What is CAT? - Common Admission Test (India).
- Purpose: CAT is a national-level entrance exam for admission to MBA / PGP programs at Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and over 100 other top management institutes in India.
- Conducted By: One of the IIMs on a rotating basis each year.
- Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT), online only.
- Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes)
VARC – Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension
English understanding, reading speed, comprehension, logic
DILR – Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning
Decision-making, logic, analytical thinking
QA – Quantitative Aptitude
Mathematical thinking, speed, accuracy
Who Can Take CAT? (Eligibility).
- Educational Qualification:
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
- Minimum marks: 50% for General / OBC / EWS, 45% for SC / ST / PwD.
- Final-year students can apply provisionally, but must provide proof of graduation at the time of admission.
- Professional Degrees:
- Some IIMs consider CA / CS / ICWA / CMA as equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.
- Age Limit: No age restriction.
